Turnaround Time
The National Heads-Up Poker Championships will come to its conclusion at
Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas today, and management and staff will have only
a few hours to clean up and prepare for the internationally renowned
establishment’s next big event, as the Jeff Gordon Foundation Poker Classic
will begin at 10 am on Tuesday, March 7.
The buy-in for the Jeff Gordon Foundation Poker Classic is $1,000, and
prizes include a money purse and a seat in the main event of this year’s
World Series of Poker. The staff may have to wear themselves out to get
ready for the event. But some of the main players will just have to come
downstairs for another day. The event co-host is 2003 World Series of Poker
champion Chris Moneymaker (Jeff Gordon himself will also host) and other
professional players will include Chris “Jesus” Ferguson and World Series of
Poker runner-up Steve Dannemore, both of whom participated in the National
Heads-Up Poker Championships. Other celebrities include bull riding champion
J.W. Hart and racecar driver Tony Stewart.
Participants in the tournament will not have to face the established pros or
the celebrities until the second round, though, when at least one famous
face will take their seats at the tournament’s table. The red carpet walk
will take place on Wednesday, March 8 at 10am outside of Caesar’s Palace
poker room.
The Jeff Gordon Foundation has provided continuous support for children and
their families through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Marrow Foundation,
the Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital at Northeast medical Center, the Riley
Hospital Children for Children in Indiana and many other programs through
the foundation’s grant program supporting children with special needs.
