Pokerzone Goes to Scandinavia
Televised poker is set to expand in Europe, as Pokerzone has announced that
it will be broadcasting its hit show Poker Night Live to Scandinavian fans
subscribing to the Visat Channel Quiz Nation. The popular show, which claims
to be the first program to combine live internet action with a television
format, will be shown every night from 11pm to 4am. The agreement between
the producers and the television channel expects is a landmark for poker in
Europe, and the show is expected to be available in over 6 million homes.
The show is the cutting edge in television sports entertainment, as players can
watch themselves playing online on television while commentators and expert
guests call the action. Pokerzone launched in April, and the show has grown in
popularity since. It is estimated that the show receives 200,000 unique viewers
every week while featuring a variety of single table tournaments, cash games,
and the newly implemented multi-table tournaments, with over 100 people playing
at the same time.
Those in charge of the show are excited about the announcement. Creative
Director Sam Orams has said that the show will be using Scandinavian presenters
in order to appeal to the native audience. Managing Director Jim Sabcy has said
that the move will certainly see Poker Night Live enjoy the same success in
Europe as it has had in the United Kingdom.
The show has previously expanded into other markets in Europe, Canada, and the
United States. One of the reasons for its rise in popularity is its ability to
allow players to enhance their poker skills.
