     NHUPC Day 2 recap

Sunday was the second or second to last day of the National Heads-Up Poker Championships at Caesar’s Palace in La Vegas, but for some players it was the last day period. Spectators for the event began arriving early, and the poker and tournament rooms were paced as the day got under way. Fans who arrived late had to wait in a long queue which trailed right into the depths of the sports book.

Chairs were even added along the sidelines of the stage area to accommodate the growing crowd, and the stands were absolutely full. Fans who did not get a seat to watch the live action till stayed and caught the games on the monitors which were telecasting the games in real time. Play was scheduled to begin at 10 am , but was delayed until 11:30 so that tournament officials could wrap up some details.

The tournament total of $128,000 in chips was moved forward, and each of the day’s 32 players got $40,000 each. The blinds going into round two increased to $200-$400. The first to begin were the Clubs and Spades brackets. David Chesnoff beat Dan Harrington, Mike Sexton was eliminated by James McManus, Josh Arieh won against Eli Elezra, and Chris Ferguson defeated “Chips” Reese. Huckleberry Seed defeated Erick Lindgren, and Barry Greenstein eliminated Tuan Le. All of these players advanced to round three.
Round three began after 5 pm, and it was an exciting round of professional poker at its best. Eight players will play in the quarter final round on Monday at 11am , including Daniel Negreanu, Sean Sheikhan, Ted Forrest, and Sam Farha.
