Absolute Poker College Tournament Action is Hot
The fourth largest online poker website in the world, Absolute Poker,
announced on Tuesday that it is on track to beat last year’s record total
number of participants in its free Win Your Tuition college tournament. The
free Texas Hold’Em tournament for college students kicked off in late
January and is expected to attract over 10,000 participants. Each
player will have a chance to qualify for the may 4th event where one student
will win a full semester’s tuition in addition to other prizes. The second
prize winner in the tournament will receive a laptop computer, with other
runners up receiving an Apple iPod.
In last year’s inaugural tournament, which is now slated to be a semi-annual
event, more than 8,000 students from over 300 schools across 17 countries
took part. The winner of the Spring 2005 tournament was Derek Dillberian
from the University of Florida Law School, and Jeremy Olisar from Carnegie
Mellon University took the Fall tournament.
Absolute Poker has several other promotions specifically designed to cater
to college online poker players. The Absolute Poker Fantasy Internship
Opportunities offers three two month internship opportunities in each
quarter in the Costa Rican headquarters of Absolute Poker. Students can
learn to run a world class business and enjoy the sun and fun of Costa Rica
at the same time.
Absolute Poker offers a Rep-for-a-Day Program, in which students can find
out what it is like to be a representative for Absolute poker by getting
their friends involved in the Win Your Tuition tournament. No application
process is required, and there is self registration as well as no minimum
requirements. It is therefore easy for anyone to become a rep for a day!
Absolute Poker is also active in fundraising support for campus charities,
groups or organizations, and students only need to email the site with the
details of their group.
