Back to the Wild West
Online poker is the new frontier of gambling. Playing internet poker against
real time opponents for fun or for real money, gamblers in the new
millennium can take their chances at virtual tables against an icon they
choose to represent themselves, while staring a the icons that represent
their opponents and the whole time programs with specialized algorithms make
sure the deal is random. It’s a world with no limits, where you can find a
game any time of day or night, and it is more than likely you will play
frequently against other players from vastly different areas of the globe.
It also brings with it the taste of the Wild West of screen legend, where
surly gamblers low on their luck start to lose their patience with their
opponents. Only feelings get wounded though, but for some players that is
enough to throw them off of their game.
It is also a milieu in which some nights you are down on your luck, not just
in the cards you are dealt but with the opponents who drop in on your table.
The surly mouthy player is just one of the cretin that inhabits the card
tables of cyber space as their only chance to let their inner Gollums out
onto an unsuspecting public. These types of players thrive in the game types
that are played for fun. They pop in and raise continually, no matter what
they have in their hands. The actions is just too stupid for players trying
to hone their skills before they take the chance at a loss, and often decent
and fun opponents are driven from the room by the annoying play of their
chance free counterparts.
The stack blower is just one type of foul language hurling muckrakers who
utilize the online poker sites. There are players who are just online to
make life miserable for others, to take out the frustrations of their lives
on a largely innocent group of gamers. They will insult everything they can,
and they have no restrictions.
Like any other pest, there are sure fire strategies to deal with these
pustulent trolls who make online poker a tedious experience for those
unfortunate to land at a table with them. The trick is to always ignore
them. The chip blower will run out eventually, and move on. Or you can move
on yourself and let him bore other opponents to tears. The stack blower to
will move on, and perhaps smash their monitor in their fit of rage. The true
troll is the trickiest of all, because any kind of acknowledgment will lead
to an extended shelf life. Say nothing, do nothing, just ride out the storm.
Online poker may shelter a player form having to read their opponent in a
physical sense, but it offers up a whole new wet of challenges when dealing
with personalities. Knowing the best way to do this is the key to both your
success and your contentment with the online poker experience.
